Too Much Bling Bling, or Not Enough?
None of us actually know what sparked the term "bling bling", but nevertheless we use it every single day. It's supposed to mimic the sound of a sparkling stone, but have you ever heard a stone sparkle? No, didn't think so. Maybe it's one of those "Does a tree make a noise when no one is around?" sort of things. In any event, we have now come face to face with the bling era, and such a concept has made its way onto more blogs than most people ever thought possible. You might be surprised by how many interesting things have in fact been blinged out before, so here are a few we found out along the way.
You have of course seen the big chains that guys wear around their necks, but it's just getting a bit ridiculous, don't you think. You see these guys out there that are 5'7", 125 pounds and wearing a foot long diamond pendant around their necks. It's insane. Note to self, if your chain weighs as much or more than you do, don't wear it. If your chair causes you back problems, don't wear it. If your chain makes you look somewhat mental, well, you get the point.
As funny as it may seem, they make bling for geeks now. Indeed, you can get a decked out mouse for your PC, and you can even get a PlayStation controller as a pendant to wear around your neck. Then again, why not get creative and just bling out your PSP? And that laptop of yours could use a makeover. A quick gold plating should do the trick. The fact is, bling is not limited to race, status, or lack of nerdiness. We can all get in on the bling era.
From teeth to telephones, you can't escape the bling bling, but maybe that's not a bad thing thing. Sure the cheap look that most people try to pull off as the real thing might be a bit off putting, but otherwise bling is just another way for people to express themselves. No need for crazy tattoos or outlandish piercings to stand out in the crowd. Creativity can spark at any time. Remember those Bedazzle kits that you used to find all over the place? Well if you can dig your old one up, think about putting it to use to develop your blinged out new look. Welcome to the shiny world.
